Ubisoft are a strange one, if they were just bad they would have went bankrupt years ago. There a strange middle ground of never being to good to be seen as improving and never bad enough to be seriously fall apart as a gaming company.

I hate Ubisoft games. Unfortunately I bought whole bunches of them on deep Steam discounts before I had played enough to solidify my disdain. Ubisoft games are like an insanely beautiful person whose personality never developed beyond their looks - you want them in your life until you have them, and once you have them you realize they have nothing else to offer. They have a singular talent for producing stunningly beautiful worlds that are tedious and boring to explore and completely lacking in character. To their credit, what you see is what you get; to their discredit, that's all you get and nothing more.

I'm just waiting for the minimalist UI trend to really take off. Games that manage to have hardly any UI but still manage to give the player agency and offer some complexity - very cool and should be focused on more by devs. It's a big part of the reason I've been turned off by Ubisoft games for a long time; the screen looks cluttered and stupid. Why does nobody mention Immortals: Fenyx whatever-its-called (I played the whole game but forgot the name). I really enjoyed that one. It had a lot of the core concepts of a typical Ubi open world game - but they managed to get you from the mini map and waypoint markers by giving you really far range view and environment design and mechanics that forced you to actually scout the area and figure out how to get where you were going. I found to be very immersive and much more engaging than the typical "set waypoint" "mindlessly follow the mini map GPS" thing that their games suffer from.

Why do you guys even play this stuff? There does seem to still be good stuff out there.

Played it through last year and though it was a good game. Not as good as Max Payne 1 & 2 or Alan Wake, but not a bad game at all. Reading through all the documents just to get a better understanding of what was going on killed the pacing though. Despite being new to Remedy Entertainment's products at the time, I somehow knew that the lead writer Sam Lake wasn't involved in the writing. Not that that's a bad thing either; let some new blood take the writing helms once in a while.

Ubisoft has so many great games it's funny how we try to poop in them so much when if we didn't have them making so many games we be bored with other publishers not dropping so much. This video tries to sound smart about toxic view but deep down it's a high praise for ubisoft.

I will say Bodycount for me looked really good. I thought the color pallette was different than the norm. It absolutely is worse than Black unfortunately. I wanted the game so bad I pre-ordered it based off the fact it was a spritual successor to Black, i was highly dissapointed. I still own it, but it just collects dust.

I hate that all the games have crazy difficult plots. Still don't understand the plots of any Halo or Assassins Creed games. And they killed off Desmond Miles. Stupid decision.

I have read the books right before I started the first two games. The second book is in my opinion the best, but I completly understand why it was better for the game as a whole to have a different take. Overall I had a great time with the books and the first two games. The third one I still have to play.

One thing that bothered me with The New Colossus was that the two "timelines" didn't feel equal. This might be because I didn't like the direction they went with Wyatt, but Fergus' timeline seemed much more put together than Wyatt's.

I get burnt out on Ubisoft games...the same repetative activities over and over, constant map icons..it just becomes mind numbing and boring after a while. I stopped playing after Far Cry Primal.

Man this was back when siege was great. Played from the first alpha until year 4 or 5 almost every day. Now after all the changes and tweaks something was lost along the way and it just isn't the same. Maybe that's good for the community now but its lost what kept me and my friends coming back over and over again.

KoTOR is free on android if you have Google Play Pass...kotor 2 can even be modded to add the missing content from the original release and its really easy, there is even a mod for Kotor that adds extra content but its a bit more complicated to install.

The story and presentation get talked about a lot. But the gameplay is a pretty bog standard cover shooter. It works fine it works. But the story being about choice and how horrible war is, having some choices be mandatory and gameplay fun is conflicting. Mainly, I just wanted even more grey choices in this game
